Troff Memorandum Macros#

Troff (or GNU Groff) is a text processor somewhat similar to TeX but significantly predating it. Troff was the standard word processor for Unix for many years. It is still available and, for good reason, used by many.

The Memorandum Macros allow Troff to operate at a higher level of abstraction much like LaTeX does for TeX.

Under Groff, troff files are often processed with the following command line in order to produce a PDF file:

groff -mm file.mm >file.ps
    OR
groff -T pdf -mm file.mm >file.pdf
